Classic Capabilities – DOHA Airport – 10 Year Anniversary

HEM celebrates the 10-year anniversary of the opening of the Doha International Airport in Doha, Qatar which featured a specially designed HEM Slip-Form Paver, along with an HEM Concrete Placer and an HEM Texture Cure machine.
The site for the new airport required an extensive drainage canal system up to two meters thick since the airport and runways were being constructed on a sand base only a few feet above sea level of the neighboring Persian Gulf.
An HEM canal paver was designed and built to pave all the surrounding drainage canals. This paver was equipped with a unique hydraulic paving package that allowed the canal paving to widen as they approached the gulf.
The customized package design also allowed the paver to be reconfigured on-site for flat paving using the same equipment and was used to pave many of the runways and taxiways for the airport.
